The Day of Filming

I have explained why I myself played the second actor in the next blog post.

A lot could go wrong.

It could rain, the roads could be closed, someone couldn't make it, equipment starts to fail. But none of that happened. At least, not fully.

On February 16th we had arranged to do filming at Pakistan Town at my cousin's house. Weather forecast said it would be clear skies.

The time we had arranged was 4 to 7 pm but traffic had caused my own time of arrival to be 5pm and the others to be around that time. We got to filming for the Therapist scene and the others gave their input on the camera motions and angles to do. Originally the plan was that the actor for the Hitman would also be the Therapist, so we wouldn't have to recruit a 3rd actor. It wasn't for some kind of plot twist that the Therapist was actually the Hitman. So we improvised and I got Maleeha to play out the role of the Therapist.

We then filmed the actual bedroom scene where the main character is having nightmares and wakes up from it. Using the Blender animation I did as reference we got to work but soon realized that the effect was basically impossible to create since focus would constantly be changing. So we improvised again and made it much faster and more sudden.

The lights in the room were on and we were hoping that later through color grading we could make it look like it was dark.

After that we filmed the bathroom scene and then I changed into my Hitman outfit for the outside shot and for the shot where I'd be choking the main character. But it was already 7pm by this time and the others had to leave. So the choking and the outside shot were both done with my cousin's phone and since I was also the actor, I just let it roll and played it out then later came back and stopped the recording.

It was 9:15pm by the time I was done and we took around at least 10 different retakes for the choking shot, and for the outside one it was at least 30 because either a pedestrian or a car was passing by. But then I thought that it could make a useful transition. But now we didn't have any pedestrians passing by. So instead I got my cousin to just walk directly in front of the camera and since there was mostly darkness its hard to tell it's him.

Now I was heading home and going to sleep. Then I knew I had to edit this but at last after that painful experience regarding the actors, the filming was done. Now the task left to do is one which I'm most comfortable with.
