I think this image of a quote from the movie The Incredibles is the best way to show how I felt when I had first made the Premiere Pro file for putting everything together. I felt excited. But nervous.
To start off with first I needed to compile all the usable clips onto the timeline and cut out parts which either weren't necessary or the sequence could do without. Despite my planning of the shots and my expectations, the opening was never able to fit within 2 minutes. And barely within 2 minutes and 30 seconds. But I got it to work.
The first thing I did after compiling was watching a tutorial on color grading so I could make the shot more cinematic. I applied warm colors on the starting shot to deceive the audience into thinking they're being welcomed or know that something is off. And in the later shots applied colder colors.
Then I needed transitions. I got a pack of horror transitions online and they worked quite well for what I was going for.
Further detail of online assets used, including music, was explained in my CCR
Then I needed music and sound effects. Both of which I also found online.
Originally there was a debate on whether I should try a different take by having calm jazz music while something horrific is happening, or have intense horror music. Though I was a big fan of the calm music and the effect it made, actually making it seamless was proving to be a very big challenge so it got scrapped.
Then I worked on the actual title and the company logo. I didn't really want to invest too much time in either of those so in Photoshop I just randomly created black and white circles and liked how it looked, put letters in it, and voila we have a logo. The M I and L were the first names of the people in the group, being Maleeha, Ibrahim, and Laiba. And I didn't give the logo too much time and attention because its similar to buying a product because it just belongs to a company. If I buy or experience a product, It's going to be based on the experience the customer has, not because a company made it. Its like spending a thousand dollars on a monitor stand ("Apple could sell a cucumber for a thousand dollars, people would still buy it." -A comedian). It's pointless, and there's way more functional products that offer significantly more in less cost. It's about the product, not the company.
Anyways, for the title I just looked up Horror fonts and found one called Vicious Hunger and didn't apply any effect to it and just put it on a text card at the end.
The most uncomfortable part about editing was mostly the looking up online for horror effects and transitions because in some cases they were shown in very ominous and dark backgrounds or they were shown in effect. And again, I didn't like horror. At all. Ironic that I'm making a film about it but still. But eventually I got over it somewhat and was able to find effects and sounds that seemed fitting and used them. The edit was completed on Feb 21st and uploaded online the same day for feedback.
